Do I need a doctor’s referral?

When working with medical issues, a doctor’s referral is required.  It is important to establish that a diagnosis has been made and that the lines of communication are open between the doctor and the hypnotist.  This allows you to receive the highest and safest standard of care.

How does hypnosis work?

Hypnosis is a natural state that we experience on a daily basis.  It is essentially a state of focused concentration in which it is easy to make changes, solve problems, and harness the creative power of the mind.  A clinical hypnotist utilizes this natural state to help you reach your goals and create lasting change.

What does it feel like to be hypnotized?

Some people experience hypnosis as focused concentration.  Others experience it as a daydream-like state.  For others, it feels like relaxing at the end of a long day.  The experience of hypnosis is as unique as people are.

Can anyone be hypnotized?

Yes.  Hypnosis is a natural state that we are all capable of.  In fact, most experience some type of hypnotic trance on a daily basis.  Some examples of natural trance states are getting absorbed in a good book or movie, driving a familiar route on “auto pilot”, and daydreaming.

If you want to achieve the change that hypnosis can facilitate, it is a simple and often relaxing experience that you have been doing for your whole life, without knowing it.  The only difference is that when you hire a hypnotist to help you to achieve a goal, you are utilizing this natural state with a purpose in mind.

Will I be aware of what went on in the session?

A client can choose to listen to and remember every aspect of the session.  They can also choose to drift off in their mind as the session takes place.  Either way is fine.

Can hypnosis be used to control people?

A person cannot be hypnotized to do something that is against their wishes.  The mind is always listening and can reject any suggestion that it deems unacceptable.  The client is always in control.

How many sessions are necessary to create lasting change?

I utilize solution-focused, brief interventions.  As a result, many issues can be resolved in three or even fewer sessions.  Some issues, like weight loss, may require six or more sessions.  However, each situation and client is unique.

Are there clinical studies that show hypnosis is effective?

Yes, there are over 3,000 clinical studies that demonstrate the efficacy of hypnosis in medical and dental applications.

Do you offer free consultations?

Yes.  I conduct a free 15 minute phone consultation with all of my clients.  This helps me to understand your goals and determine if hypnosis is the right approach to meet your needs.

What is your cancellation policy?

Your appointment time has been reserved, especially for you.  If you need to cancel or reschedule your session, 24 hours notice is required.  Failure to do so will require that you pay the total session fee, in addition to regular charges, at the beginning of your next appointment. If you have pre-paid for a package of sessions and do not give 24 house notice for a cancelled or missed appointment, one session will be forfeited from the package.
